The Problem:

01

Weekly Testing Is Too Slow

Routine beach water testing happens once a week. By the time results are published, conditions may have changed completely.

02

Lab Results Take 24-48 Hours

Even when samples are collected, it takes a full day or two to process — leaving the public in the dark during the critical window.

03

Conditions Shift Daily

Weather and storm run-off can dramatically alter bacterial levels within hours, making weekly snapshots dangerously misleading.

04

Millions Get Sick Every Year

Over 7 million people suffer waterborne illness from the ocean in the U.S. annually — many from exposures that were never flagged.

Our Soultion:

Four steps from

data to decision.

Turning real-time environmental data into reliable water quality forecasts.

Gather Environmental Data
We pull real-time environmental variables: tide, wave, weather, flow, etc. from site specific locations.
Run the ML Model
A trained model combines live conditions with years of historical lab results to generate a forecast for each location.
Publish Forecasts
Predictions update throughout the day and are served through our dashboard and API — available to counties, apps, and the public.
Verify & Improve
Each morning's prediction is logged and compared against official lab results to continuously refine model accuracy.

"Checking ocean water quality should be as easy as checking the weather."

Max, Founder of Project Neptune

Our Story:

Our founder, Max, nearly died from a staph infection contracted while surfing. He had no way of knowing the water that day was dangerous — because the data that existed was already days old.

That experience sparked a mission: build the infrastructure that ocean-goers, city health departments, and public works teams need to make safe, informed decisions — every single day.

Project Neptune isn’t just a dashboard. It’s a new standard for how cities protect their coastlines and the people who love them.

Our Story

Our founder, Max, nearly died from a staph infection he contracted while surfing. Now he is driven to prevent others from getting sick from the ocean, something that affects 7 plus million people each year in the US.

Our Vision

At Project Neptune, we envision a world where checking the ocean water quality before going in will be like checking the weather before getting dressed.

Our Mission

To put ourselves out of business by identifying water quality patterns and eliminating pollution at its source.
